SAN DIEGO, CA., (NATIONAL EDUCATION COMPUTING CONFERENCE (NECC) – June 28, 2006 – The School Tools Design Group will showcase a wide variety of K-12 database solutions at this year’s annual National Educational Computing Conference, at the San Diego Convention Center, July 5-7 (in the FileMaker, Inc. booth, #500).

The Data-Driven Decision Maker (D3M) allows teachers, administrators, supervisors, and district personnel to easily access a wide array of student assessment information in a point and click environment. D3M seamlessly interfaces with SIS and a variety of data sources, to display reading, math, and writing test data in table and graph formats. D3M allows you to target AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) students by sub group, to align instruction. This tool is what elementary, middle, and high schools need you achieve NCLB objectives, ensure AYP status, and much more.

Current technology curricula do a good job getting kids to understand and use word processors and electronic spreadsheets, but a poor job getting kids ready for the world of work using databases. Database Projects for Kids is an important program for both students and teachers because it allows the teacher to integrate reading, spelling, math, algebra, science, writing, vocabulary, computer training, art, music, digital photography and database use in a way that keeps students motivated to learn. DBPFK uses FileMaker Pro to teach students about database technology, while delivering academic content in a fun, motivating set of projects.

Observations are key elements for evaluating instruction, improving staff communication, and defining and documenting student issues, whether for IEPs, ARD meetings, or teacher-parent conferences. Observations for Administrators, Observations for Teachers, and Observations for Parents are tools for quickly gathering, compiling, and reporting this essential assessment data.

The School Tools Design Group will also be demonstrating several other new and recently upgraded tools for school administrators, including Locker Assignments, Detention Tracker, School Bus Manager, ClassMaker, and CourseWizard.

Tools for teachers include Lesson Plan Designer Supreme, Test Designer Supreme, IEP Writer Supreme, Goals, Objectives, Benchmarks, and Standards (GOBS), IEP Toolbar Supreme, Super School Portfolio, Archived Records Retrieval System, and more.

The School Tools Design Group products are available for Mac OS X 10.3 or later and Windows 2000/XP.

About The School Tools Design Group

The School Tools Design Group comprises resources from Super School Software, A Byte of Data, Waves in Motion, and Greg Walker School Consulting with the aim of designing new school tools that help principals and teachers keep their heads above water during these tough “No Child Left Behind” times in education. Principals and teachers have to plan better, react faster, do more, and get better results, or public education is not going to go the distance. Our team’s resources can develop easier to use, more competent solutions, so that educators can improve their assessment, planning, and instruction.
